Embracing Cozy Season in Wine Country: Fireplace Living & Digital Detox

I suppose using Ai to write my fall notes would completely negate the whole creative outlet thing. So welcome to the brain dump and creative hot spot of a mama living in wine country.

A few things of late, and completely unrelated.

One, I’m 40 days post deleting social media apps from my phone, on a whim. It felt as if life was going 200 mph. The only thing I changed was this small thing, and now my head feels so quiet and calm, maybe bored sometimes. Even with two real estate businesses and two littles. Interesting.

Two, I’m sitting in the dark with the only heat in the house as a smoldering fire in our kitchen fireplace. It feels very cozy. I’ve been focusing on “cozy” a lot in the last 40 days. I like it.

Today, I kept the home warm all day by continually feeding our fireplace in the kitchen/dining area. And it’s something I never imagined I’d be doing. Especially since just a little over a year ago, I was feeling anxious about the too small space we called home, an apartment in LA, where I’d place cozy fireplace vibes on our tv as soon as the weather turned cold. No one can tell me manifesting doesn’t work. Because only a year or more later, I’m deciding which fireplace to heat the house with.

It’s not all roses though. When we moved into this abandoned vineyard home, we were told the house had central heat and AC. Turns out it technically does, however it doesn’t work. Clever. Thankfully it never stays cold in this area too long. But the house does like to hold the chill. So as soon as the weather turns, we find ourselves thrown back to… whenever people heated with fireplaces. Oh electric heaters? How unromantic. And for a $1000 added to the electric bill , we could run those bad boys around the clock (don’t even get me started on the complete scam that is our electric company here). Anyways, we like to think of this as a little adventure – and we’re kind of loving it now.
