The Art of Seasonal Decorating: How to Make Your Home Shine Without Overdoing It

I’m decidedly not putting pressure on myself to create instagram worthy seasonal home transformations. Instead, I’m just pulling out what I already have, and adding a new item or two to my collection, focusing on keeping it us. It has been way too easy to get caught up in the extravagant holiday decor and I usually feel like I don’t have the mental space or energy to make it what I want. So this year for Halloween, I picked one central space in the house, and focused my attention on that one space only. And it totally took the overwhelm out of seasonal decorating and I loved the simplicity even more than my scattered decorating attempts that never felt complete in previous years.

It’s worth mentioning that this only took 5 minutes to throw together and my 4 year old was totally wowed by the holiday transformation. It turns out, a few pumpkins, a cute candle and a festive entryway go a long way with the family during holidays.

I kinda love that taking a walk and collecting sticks for a scary bouquet worked just as well as buying faux stems. And I don’t have to store them for the year.. win.
