Before & After: Our Entryway Makeover

The forgotten space that now feels like a warm welcome.

Furnishing a country home in wine country comes with so many directions I could go. I sat on the idea for months before going full-on Joanna Gaines style and choosing three phrases to guide the feel of our home. I landed on:

  • Country living – of course. I love the horse ranch / vineyard ranch aesthetic (you’ll see some wall art with that vibe in mind).

  • Form and function – because we have two little ones in the house, and I tend to lean into the “less is more” mindset. I’m focusing on great pieces that are actually useful.

  • Rich contrast – while we’re currently renting, and I’m not ready to paint the walls in deep tones (though I dream about it), the home already has beautiful wood doors, floors, and iron accents. Since the walls are painted in soft, neutral whites, I’m bringing in contrast through furniture, décor, bedding, and other swappable pieces.

A couple versions I’ve tried:

And here’s where I’ve landed for summer:

I’m in love with these faux florals from AFloral—they’re full and incredibly realistic, even up close. It’s definitely a commitment, but so are the withering bouquets and constant falling petals from fresh flowers. I chose cherry blossoms because they feel fresh and summery. I wanted something light and bright for the season, especially since our entryway tends to be a little dark.

The mirror placement is also intentional—it reflects light from the surrounding rooms, helping to brighten the foyer, and also adds depth to the kitchen and dining area. I love using mirrors to open up a space and make it feel larger.

All the decor can be shopped on my LTK.

What’s your take on faux flowers? Would you use them?
