What's Next For Us: A New Chapter

I’ve recently been at a loss for what Wild Zephyr is to me. Or if I should throw in the towel and revert to a “personal” brand.

Our lives have changed dramatically over the last 3 years.

Summer 2020, we bought our first house. But it wasn’t for us. It was our first investment property. We partnered with my brother, who lived in the state where we bought this house. Colin and I were on travel nursing assignment in Northern California, working our butts off as the pandemic was juuuust becoming a thing. We were making great money at the time (the best we could as RNs) so we finally has some extra cash to start something we’d be talking about for about a year.

Fast forward to now. Summer 2023.

We’ve slowly become obsessed with real estate investing over the past 3 years and our entire lives revolve around the real estate world now.

Our nightstands are covered with books on business, personal growth and mindset, and real estate. We’ve always got a iPod in one ear while doing dishes or cleaning our home with the latest favorite real estate or business podcast. And I’ve slowly stopped marketing myself as a wedding photographer, because I’m now managing our real estate portfolio, under a new company I’ve started, Davis & Co Acquisitions and Management. My days are hectic. Between answering tenant phone calls and emails, filling empty units and writing new leases, building brands and websites for this and our investing company, All Day Investments (cue Winston Schmidt * “All Day! I can do this All Day!”) trying to create systems and processes I know nothing about as an investor and property manager, and staying home with my toddler, my energy is no where to be found. But now, more than ever, I need a creative outlet. Not another business that takes up my weekends.

I’ve been finding major inspiration in interior design and architecture.

It feels like a natural progression as my mind is constantly thinking about real estate, improving properties, and redecorating my own space. ( Since I work almost entirely from home now and am very affected by the space around me. I need the vibes at home to inspire my day!) I have started booking interior shoots, which I am LOVING. Our new Wild Zephyr tagline is “Capturing Southern California Culture and Interiors that Inspire”. So in reference to what I am doing with Wild Zephyr now, my calendar is open for shoots pertaining to everything Socal culture like surf sessions, small brands, interiors, and very limited spots for elopements on a special inquiry basis. If you take a look around the website, I’ve slowly started to migrate the direction of the brand as well.

As I was admittedly complaining about how I change my mind and direction so much, and it’s so hard to focus on anything, Colin casually threw out, “That’s why Wild Zephyr is the perfect brand for you. You are Wild Zephyr. It’s a gentle breeze, and like you, is always changing. You’ll always be creative in some way and want to share that as an artist, but don’t let the ‘what’ or ‘how’ stop you from sharing or creating.” I’m relieved I have a personal mindset coach in my husband, or things would get out of control over here! My wandering focus would have rebranded and started over probably 7 times already.

If you’ve been here since the beginning, as we started in couples and wedding photography, thanks for sticking around!

I will still share these memories because I’ve been so blessed to have incredible experience with couples literally all over the world and I’m still inspired and proud of the imagery we’ve created together. But don’t be surprised to see a lot of new things coming around: real estate, interiors, quiet corners or a beach scene, always travel, airstream renovations, life with a toddler, and honestly who knows what else. Our lives are constantly changing, but one thing remains – our chase for lifestyle freedom and experiences that connect us with all you cool people out there.
